Floyd “Money” Mayweather, best known for his match against the Big Show at WrestleMania 24, is scheduled to perform in the cartoonish spectacle of “boxing” this weekend.

Mayweather is being widely criticized by sports fans and pundits for capitalizing on his WWE credibility to stir up hype for the scripted “fight” against Manny Pacquiao.

“It’s a shame Mayweather would sell-out for an easy payday in the circus of boxing,” wrote longtime wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer.

“It will be difficult to take him seriously after Saturday’s phony showdown.”

Fans of professional boxing — or “marks,” as they are known in the lingo — are divided on who will win the bout, though a leaked script apparently written by boxing’s so-called “creative team” indicates Mayweather will “go over” after clobbering Pacquiao with a concealed foreign object in the ninth round.

According to the script, Pacquiao will portray the fan favorite, or “babyface,” for much of the match before  suddenly “turning heel” by spewing green mist into Mayweather’s eyes when the referee’s back is turned.

Though billed as “Once in a Lifetime,” a rematch is reportedly already scheduled for the WBA’s BoxaMania event next year.
