Fans were amazed and befuddled at an independent wrestling show Saturday when one-legged wrestler Zach Gowen inexplicably applied a picture-perfect leg-scissors.
“I wouldn’t have believed it if I didn’t see it with my own eyes,” reported fan Steve Hillborn. “In fact, I’m still not sure I believe it.”
Gowen, a 29-year-old amputee who gained global notoriety by competing in WWE between 2003 and 2004, reportedly performed the flawless leg-scissors during a match Saturday in his hometown of Livonia, Michigan.
After nailing his opponent with a single-leg dropkick, Gowen defied all logic and anatomical plausibility by wrapping his only leg completely around his foe’s torso, despite the total absence of an opposable leg with which to exert pressure.
Gowen’s opponent — The Despicable Sheik — promptly signalled his submission by tapping out, though he later admitted that the pain was outweighed by sheer confusion.
“I don’t understand it,” the Despicable Sheik told Kayfabe News. “That move should never have happened, let alone won the match. I’m ashamed and deeply weirded-out.”
Gowen has declined to comment on the match, but provided an intriguing comment on Twitter: “If you think that was something, wait until you see the Figure-Two Leglock.”
