The upcoming showdown pitting Goldberg against Bobby Lashley will, according to WWE commentators, be a “once-in-a-lifetime battle,” but wary fans of sports entertainment have, via a petition with more than 100,000 names, asked for WWE to formalize that promise in writing.
“Fool us once, shame on us,” reads the petition. “But after John Cena and The Rock had a rematch to their ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ match, we refuse to be fooled again.”
The petition demands that it become a criminal offence for WWE to schedule any rematches between Lashely and Goldberg, no matter how many years in the future, punishable by the imprisonment of WWE boss Vince McMahon.
WWE is doing its best to hype up the forthcoming match in which Lashley, an enormous lump of muscles lacking eyebrows or charisma, will do battle against Goldberg, the 77-year-old former WCW champ who is currently enjoying his 17th surprise return from retirement.
The petition seems not to have worked, however, as sources within WWE reveal that Lashley-versus-Goldberg is already scheduled to headline the next two WrestleManias.
