WWE Evolution was “historic,” said Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley, but the all-female WrestleMania 36 will be “historically super-historic.”

Continuing its trailblazing work as a global leader in workplace equity and equality, World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) announced today that the 36th instalment of its popular WrestleMania spectacular in 2020 will feature an entirely female roster of sports-entertainers.

The event — already being nicknamed Wrestle(wo)mania — will be a “historic milestone in all of sports and entertainment,” said WWE executive Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley, who then uttered the word “historic” 27 more times in the succeeding nine sentences.

While many liberal-minded pundits are declaring the announcement as a triumph for human rights, some chauvinistic pigs are oinking that an all-women event is actually contrary to the concept of equality and only reinforces gender differences rather than overcome them.

“Wouldn’t it be more in the spirit of gender-inclusiveness to give equal airtime to male and female performers?” tweeted one bigot, who was immediately the target of a petition to have his hateful Twitter account shut down.

A host city for WrestleMania 36 has not yet been announced, but one can safely assume that Riyadh is not in the running.
