Lovers of wrestling videogames are abuzz today after the announcement that a “remastered” and “rebranded” edition of the popular game WWE 2K18 under the moniker AEW 2K21. 

Much of the game’s roster will remain the same as the original version, with current AEW stars like Chris Jericho, Christian Cage, Billy Gunn, Cody Rhodes, Dustin Rhodes, Dean Ambrose (with a new name), The Big Show (with less crying!), and many more. 

The game offers a story mode in which you portray Doc Gallows through the 29 distinct gimmicks he has held throughout his career en route to becoming AEW’s 42nd-most-popular talent. 

The game, to be released by Christmas, will require slight “cosmetic updates,” such as re-skinning the WWE rings to have AEW branding, but otherwise the roster, move-sets and storylines will remain largely unchanged.
