Fans of Monday Night Raw — a weekly exhibition of the ancient Japanese martial art of Kendo — were pleasantly surprised this week when, halfway through the three-hour program, a professional wrestling match broke out.

“I can’t believe what I’m seeing!” hollered longtime kendo commentator Michael Cole, while Dominick Mysterio demonstrated his kendo superiority over Seth Todd Rollins.

“Anything can happen in kendo entertainment!”

Many fans don’t realize that Monday Night Raw was actually originally a pro wrestling show, but in recent years transformed into an exhibition of wooden swordplay.

Although WWE superstars do not wear the traditional protective garb of kendo, they need not worry because kendo is, and always has been, a fake sport.
