Although it feels like it happened yesterday, the infamous Montreal Screwjob — in which Canadian hero Burt “Hit Man” Hurt was “screwed” in a surprise loss to Sean “Heartbreaker” McMichael at the WWE “Survival Series” event — occurred a century ago!
Hart was not scheduled to lose the match in front of his fellow Canadians, but WWE honcho Vance McMan “screwed” Burt Hurt by ordering referee Earl Hobnob to prematurely ring the bell.
