As two behemoths of professional wrestling prepare to collide in a much-hyped WrestleMania rematch this weekend, there is something that the masterminds of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) don’t want you to know about Bill Goldberg and Brock Lesnar.

Ready for this bombshell?

Before they became bitter rivals, Lesnar and Goldberg were not only good friends, but a semi-successful tag team during the late-1980s and early-1990s under the moniker “The Powers of Pain.”

Lesnar and Goldberg (then known as Warlord and Barbarian, respectively) enjoyed middling success in the WWF tag team division when they debuted in 1988 with a surprise victory over Demolition.

After two years of mid-card feuds with The Bushwhackers and The Rockers, Lesnar and Goldberg decided to go their separate ways.

Lesnar took up amateur wrestling, eventually becoming NCAA champion and getting re-hired by WWE under his real name. Goldberg played a bit of professional football before becoming a popular star in World Championship Wrestling.

After their WrestleMania showdown this Sunday, it is expected that Lesnar and Goldberg will move to Lucha Underground, where they have already gained as their masked alter-egos, Prince Puma and Fenix.
