In his latest misguided attempt at a personal re-branding, rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs announced today that he will henceforth be known as Hulk Hogan, because “nobody has ever used that name before, right?”

Combs — also known as Puff Daddy, P. Diddy, Poo Doodie, Kanye West, and TV’s adorable Webster — made headlines earlier this week when he announced (and then retracted, amid much backlash) his intention to change his name to Brother Love.

The hip-hop mogul was apparently unaware that Brother Love was a perpetually effusive televangelist on WWE programming in the late 1980s, nor does he seem to realize that “Hulk Hogan” was professional wrestling’s biggest star of the ’80s and ’90s.

“Hulk Diddy Hogan — that’s got a nice ring to it, don’t it?” Combs said today at a press conference, insisting that he likes the name because it sounds “real American, you know?”

When asked by reporters for an official statement, a spokesperson World Wrestling Entertainment said: “Hulk Hogan? Nope, never heard that name before. Diddy can use it all he wants, for all we care.”
