A source within World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) revealed today that Roman Reigns’ widely unpopular victory at the Royal Rumble was actually orchestrated by Pete Carroll, coach of the National Football League’s Seattle Seahawks.

It is unclear why Carroll would have the power to make so-called “booking” decisions in WWE, though, to be fair, most WWE booking decisions have unclear justification.

According to the backstage source, Carroll had the option to book a more popular Superstar — such as Daniel Bryan, Dolph Ziggler, or Dean Ambrose — as winner of the Rumble, but went with Reigns at the last minute instead.

It has been a bad couple of weeks for Carroll, starting with the shoddy Royal Rumble booking and culminating in a decision that cost his Seahawks a Super Bowl victory.

Carroll reportedly tried to pass the blame for both incidents onto former WWE star Snitsky, but Snitsky predictably denied fault.
