Fans of professional wrestling worldwide are united in joy over today’s announcement that Daniel Bryan has received doctor’s clearance to perform, though some pundits have expressed concern after the revelation that the clearance came from Dr. Marion Shelby.

A psychologist and anger-management coach, Dr. Shelby counselled Bryan in 2012 when he and estranged partner Kane struggled to peacefully coexist as a tag team, though Dr. Shelby’s medical credentials are dubious at best.

In fact, Kayfabe News could find no record of a “Dr. Marion Shelby” in a nationwide database of licensed psychiatrists, sparking speculation that he was just actually just an actor hired for a short-lived series of implausibly entertaining skits.

Dr. Shelby’s therapeutic methodology — known as the “hug it out” approach — did indeed help reconcile Bryan and Kane, though some experts worry the technique is less applicable to Bryan’s physical readiness to return to action.

Bryan, however, insists he received clearance from multiple doctors, including a Doctor of Style, a Doctor of Thuganomics, and Doc Hendrix.

Seriously, though, the good news that Bryan got real clearance from real doctors made us shout “YES”, and we might have gotten a bit misty-eyed during this promo:
