Enthusiast wrestling fans at a recent NXT taping showed their appreciation for the hard work and dedication of Patrick Clark, 21, with rousing chants of “You deserve it!”

Clark, who is now old enough to legally drink in all states, choked back tears, emotionally overwhelmed by the ovation, which was the culmination of a career spanning nearly one-third of a decade.

“The boyhood dream has come true for Patrick Clark,” hollered commentator Corey Graves as Clark’s hand was raised in victory following his defeat of Kassius Ohno.

In a post-match interview, Clark said: “This victory is dedicated to all the loyal fans who have stuck with me through thick and thin — you’ve always been there for me.”

Clark “paid his dues” during a gruelling career on the independent circuit, where he plied his trade in all corners of the greater Baltimore area for almost three seasons.

He has been clawing and scratching his way up the NXT ladder for literally weeks, and fans have grown to admire his dedication, tenacity, and never-give-up attitude.

“It’s about time Clark finally got a push,” wrote wrestling journalist Dan Mutzler. “He’ll be 22 this summer, and who knows how much longer his body will last.”
