Professional wrestler CM Punk captivated fans worldwide last week with his much-anticipated return to the ring — and this week he has shocked them again by finally revealed what the mysterious “CM” in his ring name stands for.

“It’s a little tribute to my hero, Conor McGregor,” Punk divulged at an AEW press conference this morning “Every day, I wake up and aspire to be like Conor McGregor, the world’s greatest fighter and person.”

Punk’s admission puts to rest many other theories about the meaning of Punk’s moniker, which have been debated among internet wrestling dorks since the olden times.

Debunked previous theories include:

  • Chick Magnet
  • Charles Montgomery
  • Colostomy Mechanic
  • Cesar Millan
  • Charles Manson
  • Cryptic Mofo
  • Cantankerous Misfit
  • Cheeky Monkey
  • Cumberdick Mumbersnatch

Punk’s recent admission that Conor McGregor is the inspiration behind his moniker sparked some further debate online, however, since Punk would have chosen his name well before McGregor became famous an Irish fight-entertainer in the phoney “sport” of mixed martial arts.

When asked by reporters to clarify this discrepancy, Punk sat down cross-legged, took a deep breath, and admitted that “CM actually does stand for Cumberdick Mumbersnatch — yeah, let’s go with that now.”
