Following the sudden announcement that hip-hop mogul Sean Combs has changed his name to Brother Love, the real Brother Love (the perpetually grinning, red-faced televangelist of pro wrestling infamy) has legally changed his name to Sean “Diddy” Combs.

In his trademark syrupy-southern drawl, clad in a gleaming white and red suit, the artist formerly known as Brother Love said during a press conference: “I loooooooovvvvve yoooouuuuu, Diddyyyyyy, but I donnnnn’t looooooove sharing a naaaaame with yooooouuuuuuuuuu.”

The original Brother Love gained notoriety in the late 1990s as the effusive host of The Brother Love Show on WWF programming, and for his management of The Undertaker (a long-forgotten mid-carder who feuded briefly with Koko B. Ware before fading into obscurity).

The moniker “Brother Love” is only the latest in a long series of names for Combs, including:

  • Puff Daddy
  • Puff Pastry
  • Puffy the Vampire Playa’
  • P. Diddy
  • Poo Doodie
  • Diddly Squat
  • Diddy Kong
  • Drake

A spokesperson for the original Brother Love, who identified himself only as B. Pritchard, said his client didn’t want to get into a legal battle over the name (“He looooooves everything except litigaaaationnnn”), so he instead opted to just take on of Combs’ discarded former names.

According to rumors, however, the rapper is already considering changing his name again, this time to Rapmaster PN News.
