The high-tech industry is abuzz today after the recent announcement that World Wrestling Entertainment has indeed released a smartphone app.

The existence of the app had been rumored for months, but WWE has been uncharacteristically tight-lipped about the technology.

WWE commentators and personalities have not yet mentioned the app on television, leading many tech industry insiders to conclude that the WWE App was merely in the idea stages.

“We decided not to do any traditional advertising or on-air promotion,” said WWE Chairman Vince McMahon.

“Instead, we wanted word to spread organically by word-of-mouth.”

Commentator Michael Cole is said to be one of the earliest adopters of the app, but he had not publicly shared his thoughts about it until today.

“Meh, there are millions of apps out there,” Cole told Kayfabe News.

“The WWE App is fine, I guess, but it’s no Angry Birds.”
