Fans of professional wrestling are abuzz about the news that a Hollywood biopic about Andre the Giant — and the announcement that box office megastar Tom Cruise will play the titular role.

Tentatively titled Andre the Giant: We Hardly Knew Ye, the film is set to begin shooting in August, immediately after Cruise finishes filming the long-awaited prequel to Cocktail.

The film will chronicle the life of wrestling’s greatest attraction, from his childhood in the French Alps to his legendary WrestleMania 3 showdown against [NAME REDACTED], to be played by Dog the Bounty Hunter.

Some film buffs have noted that Cruise is a somewhat peculiar choice for the role, since Andre the Giant stood nearly seven feet tall and weighed 500 pounds, whereas Cruise stands three apples high and has achieved 10th-degree Scientological Weightlessness.

But the film’s director Steven Spielberg (Schindler’s List, See No Evil, 12 Rounds 3: Lockdown) says CGI, a digital voice deepener, and 108 consecutive beers will make Cruise “an exact double” of the French giant.
