World Wrestling Entertainment issued a statement today indicating that Three Man Band (3MB) will be competing at Sunday’s “Night of Champions” pay-per-view purely for ironic reasons.

“The notion of 3MB competing at an event called Night of Champions — that’s just rich!” said WWE Chairman Vince McMahon in a press release.

Added McMahon: “I really outdid myself with that gag.”

It is widely believed among wrestling fans and journalists that the members of 3MB — Heath Slater, Jinder Mahal and Drew McIntyre — will never wear championship gold in WWE, thus making their inclusion in Night of Champions darkly hilarious.

Although McIntyre once held the Intercontinental Championship, his status as a viable competitor has diminished drastically since joining the non-musical rock group, who have an abysmal win-loss record.

3MB will actually compete on the pre-show, not the pay-per-view itself, because “actually putting them on the main card of “Night of Champions would just be too ridiculous,” said the press release.
