Immediately following a live broadcast of WWE Monday Night Raw, more than 16,000 wrestling fans streamed into New Jersey pharmacies and convenience stores in search of throat lozenges.

With vocal chords ragged from three consecutive hours of chanting at the top of their lungs, the fans bought thousands of dollars’ worth of Halls, Sucrets and other esophagus-soothing hard candies.

“Hurts so bad, hurts so bad, hurts so bad,” croaked one fan, scouring a 24-hour Walmart for anything that would ease his pain.

Scores of fans descended upon local coffee shops, hoping a hot drink might soothe their aching voiceboxes.

Many of them were only able to hoarsely whisper: “Feed me tea, feed me tea, feed me tea.”
