WrestleMania The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has filed a cease and desist order to World Wrestling Entertainment regarding the use of the “patently fraudulent” WrestleMania tagline “Showcase of the Immortals.”

“This is a clear-cut case of false advertising,” FFC spokesman Curtis McCarthy said in a press conference Monday. “The mortality rate for WrestleMania participants is no different than in general society. In fact, it seems to be a little higher than normal.”

As evidence for its grievance, the FCC provided a list of wrestlers who have competed at WrestleMania and later passed away, including: Andre the Giant, Big John Studd, Freddie Blassie, The Junkyard Dog, Lou Albano, Davey Boy Smith, The Fabulous Moolah, Adrian Adonis, Randy Savage, Uncle Elmer, Rick Rude, Bad News Brown, Giant Gonzales, Yokozuna, Dino Bravo, Earthquake, The Big Boss Man, Bodydonna Skip, Hawk, Luna Vachon and a dozen or so others.

“If anything,” the spokesman continued, “WrestleMania should be renamed the Showcase of the Very-Mortals.”
