Prominent evolutionary biologist and atheist Richard Dawkins lashed out at World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) today to publicly denounce the company’s repeated assertion that Evolution is a “mystery.”

“It most certainly is not!” Dawkins said this morning at a press conference in Oxford, where he voiced concern about the “steady, dangerous decline of rational thinking in professional wrestling”.

“Evolution is the most thoroughly understood and empirically confirmed facts in all of science,” Dawkins said. “For WWE to call this into question is irresponsible, particularly given the company’s core demographic of impressionable, gullible young men.”

Dawkins demanded a formal retraction from WWE executive Hunter Hearst Helmsley, whom Dawkins called “the worst offender of all” for being the figurehead of the faction that propagated the “anti-science propaganda” via Motorhead music.

Dawkins then proceeded to point out a series of other “egregious violations of reason” committed by WWE:

  • “Evolution’s slogan of ‘Adapt or Perish’ is a gross over-simplification of the theory of natural selection.”
  • “There is no such thing as a Wrestling God, and if there were, it certainly wouldn’t be JBL.”
  • “Jokes about making Roman Reigns look strong aren’t funny anymore.”

Dawkins held the press conference to promote his soon-to-be-released book, The Foley Delusion.
