Building on the soaring popularity of its “developmental” brand, NXT, World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) announced today the launch of a NXT Kidz, which will feature sports entertainers between the ages of five and 12.

Dubbed a “pre-developmental” league, NXT Kidz will showcase the most promising pre-pubescent athletes in the sport, who will do battle in a ring with lower ropes — and, occasionally, inside a special Heck in a Cell cage.

NXT Kidz is expected to premiere in October, replacing SmackDown on Tuesday nights.

“The boys and girls of NXT Kidz will provide the same high-flying, hard-hitting action fans expect from NXT — and be just adorable in the process,” reads a press release issued today by WWE.

Among the the talent already signed to the promotion:

Asked by reporters whether WWE would also launch an NXT Teenz featuring performers between 13 and 19, a spokesperson responded “no, because nobody likes teenagers.”
