Sports-entertainment mogul Vince McMahon has filed a $200 million lawsuit against the State of Florida for failing to prevent the thunderstorm that resulted in a delay of WrestleMania 37.

A lawyer for McMahon and WWE says that Florida “misleadingly marketed itself as the sunshine state” and failed to “adequately protect Tampa from precipitation” on April 10, 2021.

The lawsuit seeks $200 million in financial damages related to the rainstorm, alleging that at least 500,000 viewers stopped watching entirely the moment Michael Cole uttered the pun “WrestleRainia.”

The defence attorneys for the State of Florida are expected to argue that the rainstorm was an “act of God,” who was finally getting revenge on the McMahons for his loss with tag partner Shawn Michaels.
