Professional wrestling legend The Undertaker has finally broken his silence to decline John Cena’s challenge to an “historic” WrestleMania showdown, but fans will get the next-best thing, as the Fake Undertaker has accepted in lieu.

The demonic doppelganger (portrayed by Brian Lee) announced via Twitter this morning that he will resume the iconic role because the real Undertaker (portrayed by Marcus Alexander Calaway) is “really busy with mortuary stuff that day.”

Although the Fake Undertaker’s tenure in World Wrestling Entertainment was somewhat short — lasting from February 1994 to August 1994 — it did culminate in a SummerSlam main event against his namesake.

Although wrestling fans worldwide had been hoping that the real Undertaker would take one “last ride” against Cena at WrestleMania, a spokesperson for WWE said “fans won’t even notice the difference” between the real thing and the imposter.

“They look really, really alike,” said the spokesperson. “There’ll be druids, spooky music, a 27-minute entrance — the whole shebang.”

For copyright reasons, the Fake Undertaker cannot claim that Cena will “rest in peace,” but has instead insisted Cena will “soujourn in serenity.”
