A bizarre auditory illusion is sparking heated debate across the internet, as some people hear a robotic voice on audio recording saying “Lanny,” while others hear it saying “Mauro.”

It turns out both sides of the debate are right, as the voice is definitely saying the first name of one pro wrestling personality or another — either Lanny Poffo or Mauro Ranallo — and it depends on the ears of the beholder.

It turns out that certain people’s ears are attuned to bass frequencies resonant with the name of wrestling’s ingenious poet laureate, while other’s are more attuned to the name of wrestling commentary’s hyperbolic human thesaurus.
