Emmy-winning reality docudrama Total Divas, which chronicles the zany adventures and catty infighting of WWE’s empowered role models, will have a new face starting soon, as all footage of Dean Ambrose has been digitally swapped with the likeness of Dolph Ziggler.

Ambrose, who now performs for AEW (American Extreme Wrestling) under the ring name John Mocksley, was featured on numerous episodes of Total Divas because his lady lover, Renee Jung, lives with Daniel Brian and Bree Bella.

Rather than remove those episodes from rotation — Canadian subscribers to the WWE Network got a full-day goddamn Total Divas marathon this week, for crying out loud — WWE editors just replaced all instances of Ambrose’s face with Ziggler’s.

Although some pundits feel the swap-in of Ziggler will cause continuity issues with the complex narrative structure of the long-running program, a spokesperson for Total Divas insists that “nobody will even notice the difference.”
