World Wrestling Entertainment has announced that Sean “Diddy” Combs will perform Sunday at WrestleMania because all the world’s more talented musicians were unavailable.

“Diddy will perform his song ‘Coming Home,’ even though every wrestling fan on earth is already sick of it, because he happened to be free Sunday night and that’s the only song he hasn’t forgotten the lyrics to,” the sports entertainment company said in a press release.

The 43-year-old rapper, who has been musically irrelevant since his 1998 collaboration with Jimmy Page on the Godzilla soundtrack, was “available and affordable,” according to the press release.

Diddy will carry on the WrestleMania tradition of second-rate live performances, which are designed to encourage fans in attendance to visit merchandise booths.

WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, speaking to reporters at a press conference in Manhattan, tried to put a positive spin on the news:

“At least we didn’t get Limp Bizkit again,” he said.
