Mistakenly believing that thousands of fans in Chicago’s United Center were chanting “Copacabana” during a recent live event, WWE has offered Barry Manilow a developmental deal.

“We listen to our fans,” said WWE spokesperson Adam Carelli in a press release. “We heard their cheers, so we’re giving them what they want. They clearly want to see Barry Manilow as a WWE Superstar.”

Manilow, a crooner who recorded the hit song Copacabana in 1978, said he was “a bit surprised” by the offer but is “strongly considering” it.

Meanwhile, Colt Cabana — the popular independent wrestler and podcaster for whose name the fans were actually chanting — has not heard from WWE since being let go from the company in 2009.

Creative, apparently, has nothing for Cabana.
