Fans of professional wrestling were shocked when it was discovered that a so-called “retirement match” actually led to a real, permanent retirement.

Following what he claimed would be his last-ever match, respected journeyman wrestler Jerry Lynn literally hung up his boots, threw out his tights and moved to a cozy suburban condo in Florida.

He is happily tending to a small vegetable garden and has no intention of ever appearing at another wrestling event again.

This makes Lynn the first wrestler in history whose retirement match actually led to a true retirement from the sport.

Terry Funk, meanwhile, is scheduled wrestle this weekend in his 17th retirement match.
