While filing some paperwork at the small mortuary he operates in rural Alabama, former WWE manager Paul Bearer suddenly realized his name could be construed as a pun.

“Ha!” Bearer exclaimed as the realization struck him. “Paul Bearer… pallbearer… well I’ll be damned!”

Born in 1954 to parents Gus and Judy Bearer, Paul grew up dreaming of opening a mortuary, which he did in the early 1970s.

He transitioned into the wrestling business following a mysterious fire at the mortuary, which may or may not have left one of his sons badly burned (the details remain unclear).

“Hmm,” Bearer mused to himself while dusting a brass urn. “Paul Bearer managing The Undertaker — that’s kind of funny, when you think about it. Ohhhhhhhh, yessssssss, quite funny indeed!”
