Citing an “unfortunate clerical error,” World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) announced today that this weekend’s No Mercy showdown between Brock Lesnar and Brawn Strowman will be a Bra and Panties Match.

According to backstage sources, a new intern in WWE’s legal department accidentally provided incorrect contractual paperwork for Lesnar and Strowman to sign, and neither man noticed the stipulation in the fine print.

It seems the mix-up happened because, in WWE’s alphabetized filing cabinet of contracts, the folders for “Braun” and “Brock” are immediately adjacent to the folder for “Bra and Panties” — a match format that has not been used since the so-called Attitude Era.

“We regret the error,” reads a statement issued this morning by WWE, “but these contracts are legally binding, so the match must proceed as mandated by the paperwork.”

According to the stipulation, the winner of the match between Strowman and Lesnar will be the man who can successfully strip his opponent until he is left wearing only skimpy female undergarments.

Although both wrestlers were initially angered by the mix-up, Lesnar has seemingly embraced the idea, having vowed to take Strowman to “Lingerie City, bitch.”
