World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) announced yesterday that Randy Savage will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame this spring.

It is a much-overdue honor for a sports-entertainer who was beloved by millions around the world.

But despite his popularity, many facets of Savage’s life and work are not widely known, so the investigative team at Kayfabe News has painstakingly assembled five lesser-known facts about the soon-to-be Hall of Famer.

5. His nickname was “Macho Man”

Although most people only saw Savage’s vulnerable, effeminate side, those close to him reveal that he would sometimes carry himself with a manly bravado, earning him the sarcastic nickname “Macho Man.”

4. He had a gruff, gravelly voice

You probably remember Savage for his silky-smooth baritone voice — often compared to Barry White or Isaac Hayes — but when he was away from the spotlight he actually spoke with a raspy growl. Who knew?!

3. He was once married to a woman named “Liz” or “Elizabeth”

Very little is known about this mystery woman, but sources reveal she was quite attractive.

2. He often uttered the phrase “Ooooh, yeahhhh”

He also reportedly said “dig it” from time to time, although no record of this is known to exist.

1. He is no longer alive

Believe it or not, Randy Savage tragically passed away in 2011. You may not have known this, however, because it is a scientific fact that Macho Madness will live on forever and ever and ever, ooh yeah.
